FAQs
Q: What do we mean by "formulated with medium to deep skin at the centre"?
Medium to deep skin tones are our first priority in every formulation decision, not an afterthought.
Skin of colour is biologically distinct in ways that matter. Higher melanin concentration, fewer barrier lipids (fats), and larger pigment-producing cells all add up to the same thing: more water loss, more sensitivity, and a much stronger tendency to scar and discolour after inflammation or irritation. By starting with medium to deep skin at the centre, we made a formula that can work for every skin tone, type and sensitivity level.Â
Q: Does your sunscreen leave a white cast on dark skin?
No. Blocked & Busy was specifically formulated to leave zero white cast on all skin tones, including deep skin tones 4–10 on the Monk Scale. It is designed to be truly invisible on darker skin.
Q: Is your sunscreen mineral or chemical?
Blocked & Busy is a hybrid sunscreen, meaning it combines both mineral and chemical UV filters. We used a mineral UV filter (titanium dioxide), and three EU-sourced organic filters (Uvinul T150, Tinosorb S and Uvinul A Plus). By combining both types, we're able to achieve broad-spectrum protection without the heavy, white cast, making it a better fit for medium to deep skin tones.
Q: Does your sunscreen contain fragrance or essential oils?
No. Our SPF formula is completely fragrance-free and essential oil-free. We made this choice so that people with sensitive skin can use our sunscreen without risk of irritation. Fragrance is not inherently harmful, but it serves no skin health benefit, so we left it out.
Q: Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. Every Deeper product is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and never tested on animals.
Q: Is SPF 30 good enough, or do I need SPF 50?
You've probably heard that SPF 30 blocks 96% and SPF 50 blocks 98% of UV, which makes it seem like the difference is negligible. But that's not scientifically accurate. What matters isn't what gets blocked, it's what gets through.
So flip it around: SPF 30 lets through twice as much UV as SPF 50. That's double the damage potential on your skin from unprotected sun exposure. For medium to deep skin tones prone to hyperpigmentation, that gap matters because it's double the risk. So formulating an SPF50 sunscreen made the most sense, because it meant we're offering true protection for all our customers.
